82. Samuel WILLIAMS Rev.
(9) was born on 5 Aug 1802 in Connellsville,
Fayette Co., PA. He died after 1880. "Rev. Samuel Williams was born in
Connellsville, Fayette Co., Pa., on the 5th of August, 1802. At the age of 20,
while a student at Zanesville, Ohio, he embraced Christ by faith. Along with
light upon his heart came the love of souls, and in two years from his conversion
he was ordained in Somerset Co., Pa. In May, 1827, he became pastor of the First
Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, Pa. THis relation continued 28 years, during which
period six other churches were organized. Leaving Pittsburgh, he settled in
Akron, Ohio. Here he remained eight years, and then became pastor in Springfield
(Ohio). At both these places he, in connection with his wife, conducted a female
seminary. Two subsequent years were spent as pastor in New Castle, Pa., and
five more were employed among churches in the vicinity of Pittsburgh. His present
address (1833) is Brooklyn, N. Y. Mr. Williams engaged in numerous controversies,
both orally and in writing, in defense of Baptist doctrine and Practice."
Samuel Williams Jr., the newspaperman and family historian writes: "Samuel
Williams, a popular Baptist preacher in Pittsburgh, Pa., was one of my cousins
of that name". John and Hannah (Finch) Williams had six grandsons named
Samuel Williams.
He was married to Sarah about 1827.
Sarah was born about 1802 in Pennsylvania. Samuel WILLIAMS Rev. and Sarah
had the following children:

He was married to Louisa JOHNSON

1824 in Either NY or NJ. Samuel WILLIAMS Rev. and Louisa JOHNSON had the following

Allen Samuel WILLIAMS was born about 1857 in Ohio. He died on 5 Feb 1922
in Fordham Hospital, Bronx, NY. New York Times of 6 feb 1922:
funeral Notice: "Allen Samuel Williams, Director of the Reptile Study Society
of America, Sunday afternoon, Feb. 5. Services at Campbell's Funeral Church,
Broadway at 66th, Feb. 7 at 8 p.m."
Obituary: "Allen S. Williams, author and naturalist of 782 E. 175th
St., died last night in Fordham Hospital after a brief illness at the age of
64. As a young man he was a reporter on the New York Times, later becoming an
associate editor of the Truth andof the St. Louis Chronicle. He made a firsthand
study of the opium and hashish habits, and published in 1890 "The Demon
of the Orient", a book said to have influenced anti-opium legislation in
this state. Since 1900 he had been a lecturer and writer on natural history.
At the services at 8 o'clock tomorrow evening in the Funeral Church, Raymond
L. Ditmars and Dan Beard will speak."
Allen's death certificate lists him as married, age 65, born in the United States,
life-long resident of New York, son of Samuel Williams and Louisa Johnson, both
born in the United States. Allen was buried in the Evergreen Cemetery. He was
buried in Evergreen Cemetery, NYC, NY.
