SNYDER, EVAN R.
Evan R. Snyder, aged 27 years, died at his home in Liberty Twp., 12-15-1915,
after an illness from grippe, which followed by hemorrages of brain. He is survived
by his wife and the following children, Wilma, aged 4, Horace, aged 2 and Elaine,
5 months; also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Snyder of Nicholson. He was buried
in Nicholson Cemetery, Nicholson, PA. Some sources show his middle name as "Revilo".
Ray was his true middle name according to family sources.
He was married to
Rena Inez CASWELL (daughter of Peter S. CASWELL and
Bertha G. COFFIN) on 20 May 1910 in The Church Parsonage, Hallstead Baptist
Church, Hallstead, PA. The license was issued 17 May, 1910.
Rena Inez CASWELL was born on 10 Nov 1891 in Montrose, Susquahanna Co.,
PA. 1910 Census has her age as 18, with an occupation of teacher She died on
1 Jun 1978 in Warren, Susquahanna Co., PA. She was buried about 4 Jun 1978 in
Franklin Forks, Susquahanna Co., PA. Evan Ray SNYDER and Rena Inez CASWELL had

Services Held Today for Wilma Snyder
Wilma A. Snyder, 89, of RR3, Montrose, PA, died on Friday, February 23, 2001
at Meadowview Senior Living Center, Montrose. Born September 4, 1911 in Liberty
Township, Susquehanna County, she was a daughter of the late Evan N. Snyder and
Rena L. (Caswell) Snyder DePue.
She was the founder and director of Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) of Susquehanna
County and became the manager of CEF's bookstore in Montrose. She enjoyed attending
and participating in the Christian Booksellers Association's Conferences. She
was a member of the Bridgewater Baptist Church, Montrose.
She is survived by sisters and brothers-in-laws, Elaine and Clark Berg of Snake
Creek, [following half sisters] Miriam B. and Clem Bartlett of Grimsby, ON,
Canada, Esther E. and Richard Camp of Laceyville; brothers and sisters-in-law,
Horace (who died on Saturday) and Lucille Snyder of Pelion, SC, [ half brothers]
David and Esther DePue of Salts Springs, Samuel and Esther Lou DePue of Dunedin,
FL, Paul and Elynor DePue of Homer, NY, John and Phoebe DePue, Pottstown, Stephen
P. and Dorothy DePue of Lawsville.
A sister, Ruth P. Rothberg, predeceased her.[ half sister ]
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday (today), March 1 at the Bridgewater
Baptist Church, Spruce and Church Streets, Montrose. The family received friends
at the Bartron Funeral Home, Inc., 74 Church St., Montrose on Wednesday from
2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The family suggests, that if desired, memorial contributions
be made to the Child Evangelism Fellowship of Susquehanna County, 3 Chestnut
St., Montrose, PA 18801.
