Conrad's Military Career

Conrad served 10 years and 4 months in the Active
Navy, and 4 years in the US Coast Guard. During his naval career,
he attended Boot Camp in San Diego, Co. 164-62.

He later served on the:
After the 10 years and 4 months, Conrad then served 4 years on
the United States Coast Guard:
- Coast Guard Group San Francisco, Yerba Buena Island, San
Francisco, CA
- Orote Point Loran "A" Station, Guam, MI
After serving in the US Coast Guard, Conrad then served in the
following reserve units:
- Connecticut Army National Guard, Groton, CT
- US Naval Reserve Centers
- Clifton, NJ
- Perth Amboy, NJ
- Binghamton, NY
- Boise, ID
Since serving in the Active and Reserve Services, Conrad has
retired from the Navy Reserve with the rating of Electronics Technician First Class.
Conrad is a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States
(member by virtue of serving in Viet Nam), and the Fleet Reserve
Association, open only to those who served as enlisted Sea
Service, and who are retired from the Military.
Conrad is Past Post Commander of the Samuel
C. Phillips III Post 11065 , Wilder, ID. He was chosen "All
American Post Commander" for the year 1996-1997. He served as
Quartermaster of District 5, (98-99) Department of Idaho,
Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.
Conrad's two sons, David and Jonathan, and Grandson Thomas C.
Kuhl, JR, served or is currently serving in the US Navy
as well.
David served as FC2 on board the following ships and is a Life
member of the VFW:
Jonathan served as a cook, MS3, in the Submarine Service on the
following boats:
Another member of our family has now joined the Navy, our
Grandson Thomas C. Kuhl, JR. He has finished Boot camp, and has
attended Photographer's Mate "A" School, and has been transferred
to the USS Ronald Reagan, CVN-76.
